Beyond Polishing

Unveiling True Clarity.

Paint Correction is not merely "buffing" or "waxing" a car. Traditional waxes and glazes act as temporary fillers, hiding scratches until the next wash. At TAG, we focus on permanent restoration.

By safely and systematically leveling the microscopic top layer of your clear coat, we permanently extract the sharp edges of swirl marks and scratches. The result is pure, uninterrupted light reflection, depth, and a finish that often looks better than the day it left the showroom.

Precision Tiering

Correction Stages

We assess the severity of your clear coat damage under specialized LED inspection lighting to determine the exact level of correction required.

Stage 1: Gloss Enhancement

Designed for relatively new vehicles or paint in good condition. A single-step machine polish that removes light wash marring, minor oxidation, and significantly boosts gloss and clarity.

  • Removes 50-60% of light defects
  • Enhances color depth
  • Perfect prep for entry-level coatings

Stage 2: Medium Correction

Our most popular service for daily drivers. A comprehensive two-step process utilizing a heavy cutting compound followed by a refining finishing polish.

  • Removes 75-85% of moderate defects
  • Eliminates heavy swirl marks & holograms
  • Restores extreme clarity and reflection

Stage 3: Heavy Restoration

For neglected or older vehicles. A highly intensive multi-stage compounding process targeting deep scratches, severe oxidation, and heavy water etching.

  • Removes 85-95% of severe defects
  • Multiple compounding passes
  • Transforms dull, lifeless paint

Wet Sanding / Texture Leveling

The absolute pinnacle of paint perfection. We carefully wet-sand the clear coat to physically level out "orange peel" texture, followed by a multi-stage polish.

  • Eliminates factory "Orange Peel"
  • Creates a true, flat mirror finish
  • For show cars and concourse level results
The Results

Why Correct Your Paint?

Swirl Removal

Permanently extracts the unsightly circular spider-web marks caused by poor washing techniques.

Mirror Gloss

Flattening the clear coat allows light to reflect uniformly, creating a deep, wet-look shine.

Oxidation Reversal

Removes the cloudy, faded, and chalky layer of dead clear coat, bringing the paint back to life.

Coating Prep

Creates a virgin, microscopic surface profile necessary for Ceramic Coatings or PPF to properly bond.

Methodical Execution

The Correction Process

Paint correction is a delicate science. We utilize specialized lighting to identify microscopic defects, and digital thickness gauges to ensure your clear coat is never compromised during the leveling process.

  • 01

    Chemical Decontamination

We strip old waxes, remove embedded iron particles, and use automotive clay to create a perfectly smooth canvas.

  • 02

    Thickness Mapping & Masking

We measure the clear coat thickness across the vehicle and meticulously tape off all plastics, rubbers, and delicate trim.

  • 03

    Compounding (Cutting)

Using heavy-cut compounds and specific pad combinations, we safely level the clear coat to extract deep scratches and oxidation.

  • 04

    Polishing (Refining)

A secondary polishing stage removes any microscopic hazing left by the cutting stage, maximizing absolute gloss and clarity.

  • 05

    Panel Wipe & Verification

An IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) wipe-down removes polishing oils to reveal the true, corrected finish before applying any final protection.

Polishing is generally a single-step process aimed at enhancing gloss, often using products with "fillers" that temporarily hide scratches. Paint Correction is a highly skilled, multi-stage process that physically levels the clear coat to permanently remove the defects, rather than hiding them.

It depends on the depth. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat and into the base color coat or primer (if your fingernail catches in it), it cannot be fully removed by polishing and requires touch-up paint. However, correction will significantly round the edges of deep scratches, making them far less noticeable.

Yes, when performed by professionals. At TAG, we use digital paint thickness gauges before we touch the vehicle. We measure the exact amount of clear coat available and only remove the microscopic layer (usually 1-3 microns) necessary to fix the defects safely.

Highly recommended. Paint correction leaves your clear coat completely bare and unprotected. To lock in the flawless finish and protect it from future wash-marring and environmental damage, sealing it with a Ceramic Coating or PPF is the crucial final step.

Paint correction should be a rare event. Because it permanently removes a microscopic layer of clear coat, it shouldn't be done every year. With proper safe-washing techniques and a solid Ceramic Coating or PPF, a single heavy correction can last the lifetime of your ownership.
